1. Apologies -  Peter Illes, Ron Kidson, and Gaynor Richards

2. Minutes of Meeting Add to the record of last meeting that it was reported that the Post Office opening hours were erratic and closures were not always shown in advance. Apparently there are difficulties in getting enough staff. After that addition the Minutes of 16th December 2021 were approved.

3. Treasurer’s Report. MP reported bank balance £1743-47.

4. To consider progress in regard to following main issues

  • Progress with gaining SC Planning Application Consultee status for all four parishes. PW had gained the agreement from Ian Kilby who had ;then left SC. ACTION: PW  would contact other staff and to continue to press for its implementation

  1. Tree root damage to pavement outside Estate Agent. ACTION: PW to chase up SC.

  1. State of roads especially deep pot holes in High St, the depression in Station Rd and the very bad surface in Cross Road – request for SC to meet on site

No progress re a meeting with SC PW reported. DS reported that he had been

advised that SC were to resurface the Burnhill Green Road from the A464

towards BH Green during 2022. PI had passed a message to say the he

understood that Cross Rd was to be resurfaced this year.

  1. The Crown Pub - poor colour match of bricks spoils the otherwise good work

ACTION: PW reported that no action had been taken by Marstons but he would chase.

  1. Consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of charitable status for ADCS      ACTION: PW to report back at next meeting.

  1. Possible Corporate Membership.  After reflection RS and MP both suggested that there could be a conflict of interest in certain instances. Committee agreed with MP’s suggestion that potential larger local business could be asked to sponsor a particular project as an alternative to general corporate membership.

  1. Possible ADCS Annual Calendar Project.  There was general agreement to this project subject to reviewing costs etc. ACTION: DS said he would obtain some costs from a printer and then we could look at the details further.

  1. Request for help by a resident at Millfields estate regarding speeding on Kingswood Road – the meeting was advised that PI had suggested to Albrighton  Parish Council that they should take action on this.

  1. Possible ‘Welcome Pack’, mainly aimed at the Millfields development but could include any new residents to Albrighton. All agreed that this was a project to undertake.

Suggested documents to include in the folder were:-

  • Covering letter providing a general village overview
  • Leaflet for joining the Society
  • example copy of the Parish Magazine (RS to ask the Editor for say 100 copies) and a Form for residents to request monthly copies
  • Leaflets by any village societies/clubs to promote themselves and seek members.
  • Other?

We need to ask village societies if they wish to participate (and this may possibly be done by an email to the addresses on our recently updated List?).

A suitable folder or similar is required – possibly 100 No. Suggestions required.

The Society to deliver the packs door to door (decide if we knock or just deliver).

5. Matters arising

  • RS tabled photographs of graffiti on the door of the now closed TSB building (26 High Street, Albrighton WV7 3JE) and the adjacent wall of Rumbles Chip Shop (No. 25?). It was felt that unless this was removed other graffiti may be encouraged. DB reported that a planning application had been made to convert the bank to flats.  ACTION: PW would have a search of the land registry made to identify the owners of the buildings.

[Post Meeting Note: The Outline Planning Application No. 21/04098/OUT by the owner of the ex-bank to convert it to flats shows the contact name and address.]

6. Any Other Business

            none
